CoverCrypto | Connecting a Coinbase exchange account to my CoverCrypto account

Updated over a week ago

πŸ“• Did you know?

All of the cryptoassets inside your connected exchange accounts are covered by CoverCrypto! However, please note that fiat currencies are not covered by your CoverCrypto membership.

Connecting to Coinbase exchange instructions

Step 1: Log in to the CoverCrypto application, and click the β€˜+ Add connection’ button on the Connections page.

Step 2: Click on Coinbase inside the Exchanges section of the connection widget, and click β€˜Connect account’

Step 3: A new tab will open. In this new tab, log in to your Coinbase account via email and password. This will be followed with a request to enter in your two-factor-authenticator code (2FA).

πŸ€“ FYI

Please note that CoverCrypto uses Vezgo to power our connections so it is the Vezgo third party app that you are approving for access to your Coinbase account (rest assured, Vezgo is read-only, can never access your cryptoassets, and has bank-level encryption. You can read more here).

Step 4: Allow read-only access to all of your assets on Coinbase (all assets are auto selected on this step, which we recommend). Please note if you disable access to any of these assets then they will not be covered by CoverCrypto as we will not be able to see them within your account. Click β€˜Allow access’:

πŸ’‘ Tip

Fiat currencies (GBP, EUR, USD) are not covered by CoverCrypto, so you can feel free to hide access to these if you wish (Step 4).

This account is now connected, and protected by CoverCrypto!

Disconnecting

  • If you would like to disconnect your Coinbase account from CoverCrypto, click β€˜Remove Connection’ on the connection within your CoverCrypto account.

  • You can also remove CoverCrypto/Vezgo from your actual Coinbase account, navigate to β€˜My preferences’ -> β€˜Activity’ -> β€˜Third Party Applications’ -> Click on the β€˜x’ on the far right corner of this page (circled blue) -> click β€˜Disconnect’ on the popup.

πŸ’‘ Tip

If you wish to remove an exchange account connection, we recommend removing the connection from both your CoverCrypto account and your Coinbase account. If you only remove the connection from your exchange account end this will break the connection (we will stop receiving data from the exchange) but it will still hold a space as one of your connected accounts (this connection will not be a live connection, and will only serve as wasting one of you connected account slots).
